NBA FUTURES FOR 2026-27

NBA futures are bets on outcomes settled later in the season, such as the 2027 champion, a conference or division winner, or a team’s regular-season win total. The price is locked when you bet, and the money stays tied up until the market settles. Futures carry more margin than single-game lines, so the same team can be priced differently from one venue to the next.

NBA championship odds

A championship bet pays if the team wins the 2027 NBA Finals. A $20 bet at +800 returns $180 if it wins, $160 of it profit, however the price moves afterward.

Conference and division odds

Conference odds pay out if the team wins the Eastern or Western Conference finals. Division odds pay on the best regular-season record in one of the six five-team divisions.

A division title doesn’t guarantee a playoff seed, and it hasn’t since 2015. Teams are seeded by record within each conference, and winning the division is only a tiebreaker. Seeds seven through 10 go to the play-in tournament.

NBA win totals

A win total is an over/under on a team’s regular-season wins out of 82 games. If the number is 48.5 and the team wins 49, the over cashes. On a whole number, landing exactly on it is a push.

NBA Cup group and knockout games count toward a team’s record. The Cup championship game on December 11 does not, so it can’t decide a win total. Late-season rest counts too. A team that’s clinched its seed by April may sit its starters for the last week.

How futures pricing and hold work

Convert every team’s championship price to an implied probability and add them up. On a fair market the total would be 100%. At a sportsbook it’s well above that, and the excess is the hold. Futures hold is usually much higher than the 4.76 percentage points on a -110 spread.

On a prediction market, the price comes from orders and the cost is a fee. Novig charges makers nothing on futures and charges takers 0.06 x price x (1 - price) per contract, so a taker buying 100 contracts at 10 cents pays 54 cents in fees. Comparing a team’s implied % across venues is the quickest way to see where the margin sits.

When to bet NBA futures

Preseason prices reflect offseason moves and projections. The first month replaces some of that with results, and injuries reprice contenders quickly. Betting early buys a longer price in exchange for more uncertainty.

Money in a championship future is tied up until the Finals end, and that’s a cost of its own. A bet on a contender is also a bet on its stars staying healthy through the spring.

NBA Cup 2026

NBA Cup group play starts October 30 and runs on Fridays through November 27, plus Cup nights on November 24 and 25. The 30 teams play in six five-team groups, three per conference. Each group winner and the best second-place team in each conference reach the knockout rounds.

The quarterfinals are December 4 and 5 and the semifinals December 8 and 9, both in team markets. The championship is December 11 at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, moved from Las Vegas, where the semifinals and final were played the past three years.
