Lowest juice NBA betting apps: what each bet costs

Lowest juice NBA betting apps: what each bet costs

Key takeaways

  • Standard juice: at -110 on both sides, a sportsbook keeps 4.55% of the money bet on an NBA spread or total, and you need to win 52.38% to break even.

  • Prediction markets: users trade with each other, so there’s no vig in the price, and each platform charges its own fee. Novig charges neither side on pre-game straight trades, ProphetX takes 2% of net winnings (about -102 at even money), and Kalshi and Polymarket taker fees work out to about -107.

  • Reduced juice: a -105 line cuts the break-even to 51.22% and the hold to 2.38%. Circa Sports, licensed in six states, has historically run lower margins than the national books.

  • Moneylines: add the implied probabilities of both sides to find the hold. A prediction-market moneyline is one contract whose price is the probability.

Which NBA betting app has the lowest juice?

The NBA betting apps with no juice in the price are the peer-to-peer prediction markets. Users trade with each other, so there’s no house setting a price with a margin in it, and each platform charges its own fee instead. Novig’s published fee schedule charges neither side on pre-game straight trades (spreads, totals, moneylines and single player props), ProphetX takes 2% of net winnings on straight trades, and Kalshi and Polymarket charge takers $1.75 and $1.74 per 100 contracts at 50 cents. Sportsbooks build their margin into the odds, usually -110 on both sides of an NBA spread or total.

Fees as published on October 13, 2026. Prediction-market figures assume a contract that trades at 50 cents.

The table assumes you’ll get a fair 50 cents. On a prediction market the prices come from users’ orders, and the best available offer can sit a cent or two above the last trade, which costs you the same way juice does. You can also post your own price and wait. Novig and Polymarket charge that maker nothing, while Kalshi charges makers 44 cents per 100 contracts at 50 cents on NBA game and spread markets.

How juice works on NBA spreads and totals

Juice is the price of placing a bet, and it’s built into the odds. At -110 you risk $110 to win $100, which converts to an implied probability of 110 / 210, or 52.38%. Both sides at -110 add up to 104.76%, and the extra 4.76 points is the book’s edge. In dollars, if the book takes $110 on each side, it pays the winner $210 and keeps $10 of the $220, a hold of 4.55%.

The difference looks small per bet and adds up over a season. Over 100 NBA bets at -110, risking $110 to win $100 each time, a bettor who goes 52-48 finishes $80 down. The same 52-48 record at no fee, $100 against $100, finishes $400 up. Player props usually cost more: a prop at -115 on both sides holds 6.52%. The NBA spread, moneyline and totals guide has the conversion math for every price.

Juice on NBA moneylines

A moneyline’s juice is harder to see, because the two prices aren’t the same. Convert each side and add them. Take an example line, not a current one: favorite -190, underdog +160. The favorite implies 65.52% and the underdog 38.46%, a total of 103.98%, so the hold is 3.83%. With the margin removed, the favorite’s fair probability is 63.01%.

On a prediction market, a moneyline is a single contract. If the favorite trades at 65 cents, the market puts it at 65%, about -186 in American odds, and the underdog side is the same contract at 35 cents. A pre-game moneyline is a straight trade, so where those carry no fee, the price is the whole cost. Kalshi’s taker fee shrinks toward the extremes of the price range, from $1.75 per 100 contracts at 50 cents to $1.60 at 65 cents.

Reduced-juice sportsbooks

A reduced-juice book prices standard lines below -110. At -105 the hold drops to 2.38% and the break-even to 51.22%.

Circa Sports has a record of lower margins than the national books. It’s licensed in Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky and Missouri. In a historical closing-line dataset covering 2007 to 2022, Odds Reference measured NBA spread vig of about 3.2% at Circa, against about 4.5% at FanDuel, 4.8% at DraftKings, 5.0% at BetMGM and 5.5% at Caesars. Those are averages from past seasons, and today’s prices won’t match them exactly.

The books that advertise -105 on every spread and total are mostly offshore and operate outside US state licensing. A bettor at a licensed book can cut juice by checking two or three apps for the best price on the same line, which the best NBA betting apps guide compares. This week’s lines are on our NBA odds page.

Where prediction-market fees apply

For takers, the no-fee rule covers pre-game straight trades only. Under the same schedule, takers pay on live trades, $1.50 per 100 contracts at 50 cents on NBA games, and on futures and parlays, where the parlay fee is already in the quoted price. Novig isn’t available in Arizona, Michigan or Nevada, and Ohio’s regulator has told it and nine other platforms to stop offering sports contracts there, so its Ohio status is unsettled. Its prop menu runs shorter than DraftKings’ or FanDuel’s, and prices on lightly traded players depend on who’s posting orders. State-by-state availability is in our guide to where NBA betting is legal.

FAQ

What betting app has the lowest juice?

Peer-to-peer prediction markets have no vig in the price, since users trade with each other, and their fees differ. Novig charges neither side on pre-game straight trades, so a coin-flip line breaks even at 50%. ProphetX’s 2% fee on net winnings works out to about -102, and Kalshi and Polymarket taker fees to about -107. A sportsbook line at -110 needs 52.38% to break even.

Which betting platforms have the lowest juice on moneyline bets?

On pre-game moneylines, a no-fee prediction-market trade costs nothing beyond the price itself, which is the case on Novig. ProphetX takes 2% of net winnings. At sportsbooks, compare the hold on the same game across apps by adding both sides’ implied probabilities.

What does reduced juice mean?

A line priced below the standard -110, such as -105 or -108. At -105 you need to win 51.22% of the time to break even, against 52.38% at -110.

How much juice does a sportsbook charge on an NBA spread?

At the standard -110 on both sides, the book holds 4.55% of the money wagered. Prop markets usually carry more.

Do prediction markets charge juice?

Users trade against each other, so there’s no vig built into the price. Fees take its place, and their size depends on the platform and the type of trade.
