WNBA betting guide: apps, markets and the 2027 season

WNBA betting guide: apps, markets and the 2027 season

Key takeaways

  • Apps: DraftKings and FanDuel post WNBA lines in states that license them. Kalshi and Polymarket list WNBA contracts as federally regulated prediction markets.

  • Cost: a -110 spread needs a 52.38% win rate to break even. A pre-game straight trade on Novig carries no fee, so a coin-flip line breaks even at 50%.

  • Bet types: moneylines, spreads and totals make up the game board, with player props on points, rebounds, assists and threes, and futures on the title and awards.

  • 2026 Finals: Golden State and Atlanta meet in a best-of-seven series that began October 17. Neither franchise has won a WNBA title.

  • 2027 season: the schedule grows from 44 to 50 games, the Connecticut Sun move to Houston, and the labor deal runs through 2032. Dates haven’t been announced.

Where to bet on the WNBA

WNBA odds sit in two kinds of app. Sportsbooks such as DraftKings and FanDuel set their own prices on WNBA spreads, totals, moneylines and props, with their margin built in, and only operate in states that license them. Prediction markets such as Kalshi and Polymarket list WNBA contracts that users trade with each other, under regulation by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which lets them reach most states without a legal sportsbook.

WNBA prop menus vary by sportsbook, and some post props for only a few players in a game. Prices on a prediction market come from users posting orders, so a lightly traded player prop can show a wide gap between the best bid and the best offer.

Each prediction market sets its own list of excluded states and minimum age, and Ohio’s Casino Control Commission has told 10 platforms to stop offering sports contracts in Ohio, so prediction market access there is unsettled. The state-by-state picture is in our guide to where NBA betting is legal, and the same rules cover WNBA games.

What a WNBA bet costs

A sportsbook usually prices a WNBA spread or total at -110 on both sides. You risk $110 to win $100, so you need to win 52.38% of the time to break even. If the book takes $110 on each side, it keeps $10 of the $220, or 4.55% of the money bet.

Novig’s published fee schedule charges no fee on pre-game straight trades. A WNBA spread the market sees as a coin flip trades at 50 cents: 100 contracts cost $50 and return $100, and break-even is 50%. Live trades carry a taker fee of $1.50 per 100 contracts at 50 cents, and futures carry the same rate.

Kalshi and Polymarket charge takers on pre-game trades too, $1.75 and $1.74 per 100 contracts at 50 cents, which puts break-even at about 51.75%. An order that rests on the book until someone else fills it costs less. Polymarket charges that maker nothing, while Kalshi charges makers a smaller fee on some series, WNBA games included.

Common WNBA bet types

Game lines work as they do in the NBA. The moneyline picks the winner, the spread asks a favorite to win by more than a set number, and the total is the two teams’ combined points. A half-point line can’t push. The NBA spread, moneyline and totals guide walks through the odds math, which is identical here.

Player props are over/under lines on one player’s points, rebounds, assists or made threes, plus combinations such as points plus rebounds plus assists. Milestone props ask whether a player reaches a set number, such as 20 or more points, and pay one price with no under. Props follow minutes, so a teammate who’s ruled out or resting moves the lines. Our guide to NBA player props covers void rules and correlated parlays.

Futures cover the champion, finalists, MVP, Rookie of the Year and season win totals. Live betting reprices spreads, totals and moneylines during play, though fewer apps offer live player props.

The 2026 WNBA Finals

The 2026 season ran 44 games per team for 15 teams, from May 8 to September 24, and the top eight teams made the playoffs regardless of conference. Golden State, in its second season, finished 32-12 as the No. 2 seed and swept the defending champion Las Vegas Aces 3-0 in the semifinals. No. 4 Atlanta swept the New York Liberty, who had beaten top-seeded Minnesota in the first round.

The best-of-seven Finals opened October 17 in San Francisco. Games 5, 6 and 7, if needed, fall on October 26, 29 and 31, and whichever team wins, it’ll be that franchise’s first title. On October 13, Kalshi’s title market priced Golden State at 51 to 52 cents and Atlanta at 48 to 49 cents.

What’s known about the 2027 WNBA season

Players and the league’s Board of Governors ratified a seven-year collective bargaining agreement in March 2026, covering the 2026 through 2032 seasons, so the 2027 schedule isn’t waiting on a labor deal.

The WNBA announced on June 17, 2026 that the regular season goes from 44 to 50 games per team starting in 2027, with dates to come later. As of October 13, 2026, it hadn’t published a 2027 start date. The 2026 season tipped off May 8.

Win totals for 2027 will be set on 50 games, so a 2026 record needs converting. Golden State’s 32-12 is a .727 winning percentage, which works out to about 36 wins over 50 games.

The league will have 15 teams in 2027. The NBA and WNBA approved the sale of the Connecticut Sun to Tilman Fertitta in May 2026, and the team moves to Houston for the 2027 season, where it’s expected to bring back the Houston Comets name. Expansion resumes after that, with Cleveland in 2028, Detroit in 2029 and Philadelphia in 2030, for 18 teams.

FAQ

What apps have the best WNBA odds?

Prices differ game by game, so compare the same line across apps before you bet. On cost, a pre-game straight trade on Novig carries no fee and breaks even at 50% on a coin-flip line, against 52.38% at a -110 sportsbook price. FanDuel sells WNBA player props, and DraftKings lists live WNBA betting.

What is the best app to bet on the WNBA?

It depends on what you bet. Kalshi lists WNBA markets down to quarter lines and award futures, FanDuel sells player props, and DraftKings lists live betting. On pre-game spreads, totals and moneylines, Novig’s straight trades carry no fee for either side. In states without a licensed sportsbook, the prediction markets are the options.

What are the most popular bets for the WNBA?

Moneylines, spreads and totals on each game, player props on points, rebounds, assists and threes, milestone props such as 20 or more points, and futures on the champion and MVP.

When does the 2027 WNBA season start?

The league hasn’t announced a date. It has confirmed a 50-game regular season for 2027, up from 44, and the 2026 season started May 8.

Is WNBA betting legal in my state?

WNBA betting follows the same state rules as other pro sports. Sportsbooks need a state license, and CFTC-regulated prediction markets operate in most states, with some states contesting them in court.
